In the cluster of shops overlooking Brodick Bay, this remarkable craft bakery has been firing yeast doughs for over a hundred years in two antique scotch ovens.
Lindsay Keir, today’s baker, bought Wooleys Bakery in the 1980s when the craft bakery on Arran was almost at a standstill and mass-produced cut-price bakery-chain bread filled the shelves. Today this trend has been reversed and the bakery produces a varied range of rolls breads and cakes – included the famed Wooleys Oatcakes.
Along with 4 other Arran companies, Wooley's Bakery is one of the first in the UK to gain SALSA accrediation.
